Wedding Ceremony at George Heriots School, Edinburgh and Reception at Dalmahoy.
Since the day we met Michelle & Ross, we just knew their wedding day would be fun. This couple are just so very much in love it’s almost tangible. The Scottish & French mix meant filming their wedding day was a whole heap of fun for us, but the guests certainly knew how to party too 😉 [the ride in that golf buggy was scary Ross, you really need to work on controlling your speed ;)]
For Ross to be able to return to George Heriots School for his wedding was a special moment indeed, so cool to be married in such a beautiful chapel held within such stunning surroundings as Heriots. It was nice to work in a shot of the keyhole in the chapel too, something we chatted about on our first meeting.
One very special moment during the day was a French poem, written and read on the day by Michelle’s Grandmother. I think it was just beautiful, and with a little help from Yvonne (and a good friend of ours to polish off the translation fine tuning, thanks Adina Kurzbach!) I was able to use the poem in the film (my French is getting there but way too rusty just yet). I had considered subtitles for sharing on the blog, but thought it took away from the film itself so have instead put a translation below in case you are interested. It was such a nice surprise for R&M and a heartfelt moment that it was the perfect start to the film.
Here’s the translation:
In the chapel, under the ancient arches,
A fine and elegant Michelle arrives, accompanied by her father,
Preceded by two little, but serious and proud, girls,
Who throw flowers from their little baskets, one after the other
Ross, accompanied by his mother,
The prayers then commence
A solemn commitment of a sincere love
Whilst songs echo in the presence of a gentle atmosphere,
We listen to one more song, Michelle, the last,
All around the young couple, whose faces light up,
Confident about the wonderful future which awaits them,
We wish them all the luck in the world.
You know what? So do we, so do we. Have an awesome life together Ross & Michelle…. it’s going to be fun! 🙂
